Just in time for Earth Day 2008, we figured it was time to find some items that don’t deplete the earth of more of our natural resources or pollute our landfills. So we searched for repurposed and sustainable materials that are produced in fair trade, sweatshop-free environments. It’s time we all thought a little differently about the things we buy, how they are made, and where they come from.-Second City Style

We thought eco-chic meant really-ugly too, but these finds should dispel those fears. Besides, it’s chic to be eco-friendly these days…and we’re all about chic!
Costa Orange Necklace by Geraldine Rinco, $200

Made from orange tagua, which is a vegetable alternative to ivory, this necklace makes a bold statement.

Myrtle Burl Glamour Glasses by Iwood Ecodesign, $262.50

These wood sunglasses are made from high quality, eco-sustainable, exotic wood veneer. They come with a reclaimed leather carrying case to boot.

Stella McCartney Satin T-Strap Sandal, $745

These satin t-strap sandals with double ankle strap and flower embellishment are super sexy! Made with a synthetic sole, there are no animal products in these stunners.

Organic Cotton Boy Short, $36

We just love boy shorts. Not boy’s shorts! Please. We especially these which come with a matching cami.

Organic Pleated Top by Peligrosa, $154

We consider a tee one of the most important accessories you can own. OK, it’s a stretch, but we just love this fabulous top that goes with everything! Besides, it’s made of naturally dyed 100% organic cotton, sweatshop free in Japan.

Athena Brown Gladiator Sandal, $38.00

These vegan sandals are actually really hot! The faux-shell and beadwork add sparkle and shine to this season's hottest shoe style.

Matt and Nat Public Enemy Streamline Bag, $125

How often can you find a bag for under $150 you actually want to carry? This indigo pebble vegan leather bag is not only fab, it’s in the season’s hottest color! A reusable protective pouch is included.
